      Temporary Redirects
Is it possible to have redirects act like they do in vBulletin?

When I rename a Wiki article that ends up having 2 different Friendly URLs, I get 2 namespaces showing up on the forum list.

      Code:
      http://www.ps3trophies.com/forums/858-trophy-guides/?sort=title&order=asc
Look for Ace Combat Assault Horizon Trophy Guide and Ace Combat: Assault Horizon Trophy Guide
What happened was one of my staff forgot to add the colon, and because the Friendly URL includes punctuation, a new friendly URL was made and a redirect was created. Now ideally, the system worked like it should, with creating a redirect to the new page because I'd prefer for all incoming traffic to be forwarded to the correct place. But I don't want the bad namespace to still be visible.

Any way to make it so the redirect still occurs and the namespace isn't visible in the list?

I'm just wondering how many people need the namespace to still be visible in the list, if a rename happens...

If not, it would be cool if a maintenance tool was created to prune old redirects. So we could have them temporarily, and when the time came to prune the redirects, we could do it from the Admin CP.

I really like the idea of having expiring redirects. It usually takes a few months for search indexes to update after a URL change, so having a built-in feature that pairs with this concept makes a lot of sense.

Implemented in the next release. If you have permission to delete redirects (temporary redirects are redirects to-be-deleted in the future), you can select a date when the redirect will expire. Daily cron cleanup should take care of the rest.

Moved from the VaultWiki 3 tracker, where it was originally suggested for version 3.0.14.
