      Anonymize Articles
We need to change the original poster to anonymous

The guidelines and instructional materials generate traffic that the writers cannot handle. We would like to make those articles anonymous or assign them in bulk to a given account like "Encyclopedia management."

It would fit well with the normal in-line mod activities.

I'm confused about what you mean by "generate traffic that the writers cannot handle". The anonymizing of articles raises several concerns.

The original poster or contributing users need to be recorded for permissions and blame assignment regarding SPAM. While it would be easy to remove that bottom section of the article, the History tab would still need to reflect who made specific changes. As the History tab is permissible on a forum-by-forum basis, you should be able to hide any contributing user information from non-moderators.

It is currently possible to remove the post bottom info by setting some $show vars in your the article postbit to false. If this is an immediate issue for you, I would recommend doing something like this. You can check the namespace, and set the appropriate variables to false if it's the right one.

I see that I did not make this very clear. What we are looking for is to substitute a "staff" userid for the actual author's userid. I have created a user named Encyclopedia management and want to re-author our tutorial articles to use that userid.

I can do that by copying, deleting the original, recreating the title and pasting the contents, but that is tedious and a slip of the finger can lose an article. I can also edit the database to change the id's and names in the affected posts and threads.

I would write the query to do that if I knew better how to integrate something like that into vBulletin and add it to the list of thread actions available to admins.

When one of the "staff" writes a tutorial article we will want to optionally reassign it to this account.
