Redirect does not accept namespace code
Placing namespace codes inside the redirect code disables the redirect

One of our editors is trying to document Vault Wiki for our author/contirbutors and used the names space codes inside the redirect codes. The resulting redirect is ignored. The redirect is in the same namespace as the target article.

      [redirect][main]Redirect to Here[/main][/redirect]

I have not tested this for cross namespaces where it might actually be useful.

If the redirect is in the same namespace as the target article, you should not wrap the namespace in anything. In any case, the editor is trying to use the incorrect syntax for cross namespace, so this is technically Working As Designed. According to Special:WikiCodeList:
The article with the replacement text is identified by the BB-Code's value, using the format "Namespace:Article".
We have been considering changing this for a while to the format you have mentioned, as it is much more intuitive, but have left it this way so far for greater importability from other softwares. At this point, though, it seems like it would be simple to implement, and any manual changes from the old format would be minimal on most installations.

Thanks, I should have remembered the correct syntax, but it slipped my mind.

I don't think this will really matter to us. The bracketed form is, as you say, more intuitive, but it is really a matter of training.

This has been added for the next build (both formats are now acceptable).
