Thumbnails of GIF images render broken

It seems that thumbnails of GIF images break and don't render correctly... Usually, only ~10-40% of the images render, then the rest is black or transparent (depending on if using Imagick or PHP GD)

I sent you a zip file in another thread, there is a GIF that regularly breaks...

Would be nice if image thumbnails worked correctly when resizing...

The provided GIF resizes without issue when testing on my site using the same PHP version, using both GD and Imagick. The issue appears to be unique to your server. Please submit a ticket so that this can be investigated further.

Could you try setting up an env with Centminmod 124 and testing there? it is EL7 based and there you can find the same Imagick version and get the same versions/env as we are using.

I was never able to specifically reproduce this, but I did occasionally have some images on my sites that were either a black rectangle, partially black, or partially a random noise pattern. I was always able to resolve those images by forcing that specific image to rebuild.

So in the next release, we have added a simple tab to each image that lists the currently enabled thumbnail sizes, and allows you to rebuild just that one thumbnail (rather than having to rebuild all thumbnails).

As mentioned elsewhere, in the next release, thumbnail generation (including rebuilds) is now based on a queue system. This prevents thumbnails from being corrupted by trying to generate too many at the same time. So hopefully you wouldn't need to use the new tab too often, except for debugging a particular image.

A number of other image processing bugs have been fixed:
Fixed Bug: array-string conversion processing PNG/JPG containing EXIF ApplicationNotes XMP segment
Fixed Bug: fatal error processing grayscale images using CLI Imagick
Fixed Bug: fatal error processing JPG w/ Flashpix segment
Fixed Bug: fatal error processing PNG w/ tEXt segment containing "Raw profile type xmp"
Fixed Bug: fatal error resizing animated GIF uploaded as wiki file
Fixed Bug: fatal error logging unresizable wiki image
For now I have marked this issue as fixed in the next release. If you are unable to repair the affected images using the new tab in that version, we will need to reinvestigate the issue.
