Cannot figure out Aesthetics page

Items-per-page choices
25|50|100|200|400
A list of user choices for the number of items that will appear on each wiki page before page navigation is needed. The largest number will be the maximum allowed. Separate multiple entries with a vertical bar

So I've got this entry. Maybe I'm going mad, but as a User where can I even choose how many articles to view in a list at a time?

The only things that seem to be used are:

Area contents per page
25
The number of items to show in area lists before adding page navigation. Note: This number must be at least 1.

And:

Number of previewed area contents
25
The number of items to show on an area's main tab before linking to the List tab.

This is typically used directly for special page navigation and history navigation.

It is also used to calculate the maximum allowed value when the user manually specifies how the list is sized. Manual sizing can often be done by manipulating the list URL even if the form does not provide a means to do so. Having a maximum limit regardless of the means of input helps prevent abuse.

Aside from the Area-related navigation you mentioned, the other Navigation settings are used depending on the specific context the list is in (such as if the article is part of a book). If you only ever use area-context lists, then the other settings may rarely apply to you.

Even for the area-related navigation you mentioned, which only sets the default area list size, "Items-per-page choices" is still relevant per my point about maximum allowed values.

Is there anywhere a form allows you to pick how many are shown per page?
