      Infobox widget

Please add a widget for article inforbox.

Similar to XenForo custom fields, articles should have wiki fields.
The content of these fields should be displayed in the infobox widget.

I would be greatly in favour of the WYSIWYG functionality for templates. Here is an example of an infobox editor on Wikia in action: https://i.imgur.com/a09I69i.png

Now that VW has custom fields, please add a XF widget to display the output of these fields.

Implemented in the next release per: https://www.vaultwiki.org/issues/5523/

Infobox is available as a display group for each custom field. If the widget is active in the XenForo Widgets admin page, then fields that have this display group are rendered in the infobox widget.

Any chance you can demo this and we can test it before it gets released on your xf site?

Not sure if this is what you mean, but the custom fields features will appear as a preview on our XF demo a few days before general release (RC 2) to ensure it's working properly. Fingers crossed that the preview will start Friday of this week.

I created a number of custom fields on the XF demo, which are generally available for most pages in the demo.
However, I did most of my testing on this page: https://www.vaultwiki.org/xf-wiki/in...=Raz-test-page
It makes use of this template: https://www.vaultwiki.org/xf-wiki/in...&title=testery

Please note there are still some phrases that still need to be created. If there are any other issues, until release, please reply to this report.
If you would like me to create a specific field-type for a display-group to test, please reply here.

I already have some ideas for further improvements, such as being able to define multiple infoboxes on the same wiki page that use different fields from each other. But we'll take care of things like that later.

Obviously there's a lot going on there. Way too much for a production wiki.

The infoboxes look terrible and use up all the space.

I can definitely see us using the top infobox for quality status. I guess we could set it up with a drop down for things like "In Review" "Work in Progress" "Needs References"?

Yes, you can create a drop-down field. I've created one for you on the demo now using your example. It's active on that same page.

If you have not been following the general Custom Fields thread, then some of what I've mentioned or am about to mention may be confusing, as well as why there are so many fields on the demo. Custom Fields were implemented as discussed in the spec here: https://www.vaultwiki.org/issues/5523/#note32838
The page linked in my previous post is a test dump for every kind of custom field that needed more testing and to provide a bunch of examples in one location. We just made them with random names/text.

For clarification, the only "Infobox", per this request, is the box on the left (custom fields displayed using a XF2 widget). It's the standard width of a widget, just using the Sidenav widget position, which is a standard position in XF2; many admins don't use it at the same time as the Sidebar position, because as you've noted, it takes too much away from the main content. In production, you would likely choose either Sidenav or Sidebar for all your widgets, and not a mixture.

The style of the "Mood" is the standard style for XF2 custom fields that have the "color" field type.

The styling of the custom fields on the Details tab is mostly standard, with the exception of the date field. We updated the field to support times and also dates prior to 1900, so it is non-standard.

The style of the custom fields on their own tab (example "CustomTab" with URL-action "crazytabs") shows the field title as the tab name/header, with the content as the tab body. The example uses the "Wiki page chooser" type to embed a full page here (but that type also supports rendering as a link).

The examples "Simply Put" and "P.S." are testing "Value display HTML" which contains custom HTML but is a standard feature of XF2 custom fields.

The styling for all other custom field locations used as of this posting is the standard styling for custom fields in XF2, but the padding/widths of fields in the Infobox widget were tweaked slightly so that the fields would fit inside the widget container.

I can think of lots of ways to use this, but the infobox probably isn't one of them! Will continue to use Post Macros and html templates for those

To follow up, in the next release we've added:

      - Infobox groupings: groupings appear as a heading in the infobox. Fields set to that grouping will render beneath that heading. When setting the widget config, select which headings are shown in that infobox.

      - Infobox field styles: for each field, decide whether to render as:
      1) Pair (name on the left, value on the right)
      2) Sub-Heading (name as a heading above the value)
      3) Sole (value by itself without the field name)
These styles have been designed to try to look more like traditional infoboxes, rather than XenForo's stock custom field styles. However, we still use basic XenForo colors and style properties.

I've just duplicated a bunch of rows in this block using the styles:
      https://photos.app.goo.gl/95q7imHMfnN9FaRLA
      (sub-heading, pair, sole, sub-heading)

Again, these changes only apply to fields in the Infobox display location. Other locations, such as Top, Details tab, etc, are not affected by these changes.
