      Install/Upgrade System

VaultWiki is now a huge product with many updates. Installing the product file uses a bunch of server resources at once, which could cause install errors.

vBulletin uses a step-by-step install system, where you have to click "Next Step" to move on. This allows the install process to balance its strain on the server and be less prone to errors. Also an install script is nicer looking than a product file.

Nice idea this. Seen this used on vbPortal, and it helps with the install overall.

Finished. Not quite vbportal, since nothing's configurable. Just a way so that server doesn't crash when it tries to apply 20 updates all at once.

Look forward to seeing it in action. I assume it's doesn't require any drastic changes for already exisiting users?

I shouldn't have marked this as "implemented" until we had finished testing it. I just got through the *fresh install* and *uninstall* variations, and a lot of stuff needed adjustments. At this point it's almost entirely seamless.

Tomorrow I'll create a test DB all the way back at 1.0.0 and run through the upgrade variant. Then I will replace the database with a Lite DB and finish from there. I have a lot of other things on my task list for tomorrow (mostly not even VaultWiki-related), so I'm not sure if the build will be ready by the end of the day.

Finished. Got the installer to finish each variant without throwing any errors. Whether certain steps actually do what they were intended to is another story entirely, but we'll deal with that on a case by case basis.

It's time to release this bad boy.
