      Maintenance scripts

It would be cool to have admin or moderating maintenance scripts like:

      • search & replace content (text, wiki-tags, etc) in many or all pages
      • write text to selcted area-pages (or all pages)
      • delete text in many pages
      • etc...

leant to the mediawiki bots, but without programming knowledge it is very difficult to realise...

Bots can automate tasks and perform them much faster than humans. If you have a simple task that you need to perform lots of times (an example might be to add a template to all pages in a category with 1000 pages), then this is a task better suited to a bot than a human.
      I see these wikimedia bots:
      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipe.../Editing_tools
      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipe...us#Active_bots

Are there specific bots that you are requesting?

The excell import would be handy.
A bot to fix up formatting / bb codes would be very useful.
RegEx text replace would be very helpful.

Name it "Bots" or "Maintenance scripts" - these things would be great for wiki-gardening...

      Your request is quite vague.
Could you share which specific functions would you like to see?
For Pegasus to implement your request, he will need to know exactly what your request is. What exactly do you want the bots to do?

      A recent example:
The [gallery 1] tag has been changed to [gallery]. Now I have to search all these passages in my wiki-sites and replace it with the new tags...

I think this is a specific function, or?

Yes, your first example of RegEX text replace function is a clear example. But all other examples fall under the same function. (bb code tags replace, delete specific texts in many pages, etc)
It seems to me that you need only this, while wikipedia has a large number of bots.

A bot is a script that not only does something once, but often keeps on performing the same task. For example, you could have a bot that runs once per week to change all instances of X to Y.

I think the concept is interesting.

A RegEx search and replace tool is pretty essential. @pegasus isn't there something like this already?

      Next example:

" All pages with -football- in title should have the category -football-" by a script
