      Black Boxes on Screen
Black boxes appear on screen on main page.

      Hello,

I am having an issue where black boxes randomly appear on screen on the home page. It doesn't seem to be happening when I click into an area, just on the main page. The function of the wiki doesn't seem to be impacted and it doesn't happen on any other page. The issue only began yesterday. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

I was having this issue as well. It went away after disabling hardware acceleration in Chrome and then restarting the browser. For the time being it looks like this is a bug in Chrome or in the current firmware for certain graphics cards: https://productforums.google.com/for...U/J52nOgen7bkJ

Unfortunately no one has reported on this issue recently so it looks like Google has either ignored the issue or that it was re-introduced with a recent Chrome update.

Until you posted this, I thought it was just me and that I needed to get the dust-blower out soon. I did a lot of investigating trying to narrow it down, and it seems like the black boxes do not actually correspond to any particular elements on the screen; they just appear/disappear whenever the browser needs to redraw something.

Oh ok. I just upgraded Chrome yesterday because I thought it was the reason my scroll bars disappeared (it ended up just being a Mac setting). I just checked it out in Firefox and Safari and it looks fine. I'll also test on another computer in a few days when I get home. Thanks so much for the quick response!

EDIT: Disabling hardware acceleration also fixed the issue for me.
