      H=1

      In over 8 months of the mod's public release, and 3 years of its development, the H=1 tag has been a mystery (except for some brief mentions in forum posts as to what we intended to use it for). I suppose it's time for the "surprise" now.

      In NuWiki, there was a forum type that allowed the second post in an article to be treated as an additional article post. This never really worked in VaultWiki because it would require rewriting how all the caches and revisions etc worked.

      H=1 will be used to split the article post visually into what looks like multiple posts. The segments are stored in an array which would allow admins to write and apply the only plugin I could ever see being useful in a multiple-post article - hiding additional content in the same article from unregistered or unsubscribed viewers.

      If anyone can think of other uses for split-post articles, we might be able to organize some time to create a nice library of possibilities for this feature.

      Well, the feature seems pretty minimal now that I'm done, but it took all day to put this in there so that nothing else was broken.

      Added for the next build. H=1 will work as described above. In non-wiki posts and wiki comments, it will be treated as H=2.

      Could you post a small example of how the conditional would work.

      I think I will be able to have premium or members only content in an article that is generally visible to everyone except for the heading 1 areas. Will the condition test be part of the option?

      Presumably it will be based on the reader's usergroup but this is not clear to me.

      This is not a default option. What I refer to above is that it would be easy to write a mod like this for your forum. There is a new hook location called "vault_postbit_broken" in vault/special_class_postbit.php.

      So to use this feature requires modding, or not? Or is it just setting the conditionals that requires modding?

      I did come across an idea on how this might be used... I think.

      I noticed in Templates that you can't (or at least I should say I can't see a way) create a part of the post that details how the template works as currently can be done in mediawiki.

      H1 would be a nice way of splitting the template so as to be able to have a section that looks like a normal wiki, but isn't parsed with the template when it's used.

      It does not require modding to use the H=1 feature. But if you want to do something like hide H=1 sections from guests, you will need to do some modding.
