"Last Page" edited shows random dates/authors

On the home page of my vBulletin 4.2.X forum (www.500eboard.com/forums), with VaultWiki 4.0.0 installed, the "Last Page" indicator shows a random author and date/time, when it is supposed to show the latest Wiki contribution/edit.

There are times when this display is correct, but most of the time it shows a previous contribution edit dating from some time in the past.

Is there a fix to "force" the forum to display the latest/correct edit/contribution to the Wiki?

"Last Page" should only appear if the last contribution created a new page. It should show the title of the page that was created, the author who started the page, and the date it was first posted.

If any other edits to a page were made, it would be listed as "Last Edit".

If you are not seeing the title in the "Last" info, then it's possible the last update was made before some info started being tracked.
Also, edits to child pages within an area were also not considered as a "Last update" for the area until a recent version. Instead, only new pages, comments on the area itself, and edits to the area landing page itself were listed. I'm not sure what version you were using before you upgraded to 4.0.0, so I can't be sure if this was the case here or if the updates aren't propagating to parent nodes as intended.

Last-info that was generated on older versions is not automatically rebuilt by upgrades. The best way to make sure last-info is up-to-date is to make a newer update after the upgrade and see if the update field changes.

I have had a couple of new Wiki pages created since the update to the 4.0 RCs, as well as many edits (including my own, to re-embed the images that had been formerly attached to each of my pages).

Whether Last Page or Last Edit, I am getting "random" (but correct) "last info" being displayed. One time when I refresh the page it will show one edit, another time will show another edit/new page. It's not consistent. That is the issue.

I was using your newest version of 3.X before upgrading to (initially) 4.0 RC3, then RC4, then the latest 4.0.0.

I'll try to post links to some screen shots I take throughout the day today showing different Last Info displays. I'll also edit a page (and perhaps create a new one) and see if this info shows up. Typically it does show up, but then it rotates out in favor of random displays of past Last Info.

As I said, it's correct, sometimes it's just a bit out of date

      Cheers,
      Gerry

OK, here is the display as it showed this morning.

And another screen shot after I made a quick edit to an existing Wiki entry. Again, correct.

If this display changes in the coming days, I'll post.

      Thanks
      Gerry

It just now reverted BACK from the "Last Edit" to "Last Page" when I refreshed my forum home page. Yet 5 minutes ago, it was still displaying the correct "Last Edit" that I made this morning....

Couple of minutes, and a couple of refreshes later...... well, you get the picture.

BTW the time and date the screen shot was taken are the actual filenames, if you want to know when they were taken. Just "save as" the files and you can see the time/date they were captured.

After reviewing the code that collects last-info and nearly losing my sanity, I have discovered that sometimes when a page is made, its time can be recorded as 0 in the update list for sorting, although it would update the node's update time correctly. This would cause something other than "Last Page" to show even if the page was the last thing created.

As for edits, I think it is possible that the value of the 'dateline' field is overwritten somewhere in the BB-Code parser when the edit is sent there to get a summary of its text. If the 'dateline' of the corresponding page is used instead, this would cause the edit to be recorded earlier in the update list. In this case, it is possible that the "Last Page" and "Last Edit" would randomly switch if they are both related to the same original page.

I cannot figure out a way that "Last Page" and "Last Edit" would randomly switch if they are related to different pages unless you are extremely lucky and both pages were originally posted at exactly the same time (possible for auto-created categories and attachments during an import).

I had another user update yet another page's wiki entry (he added some rows to a table, so it was a substantive update). This is totally unrelated to the pages that I showed in my example (which are different entries, BTW).

The new update ("Last Edit") showed up a few times, but now it seems to be reverting back to the 12-06-2014 entry (which was a new page creation) and is not even (for the moment) showing even my Last Edit.

Bottom line, there have been several updates (Edits) since the new page was created on 12-06 and they are not consistently showing up. They were very definitely created/saved at different points in time.

Not a huge deal, but quirky behavior nonetheless.

The next release makes several improvements to the way last-updates are fetched. Please let me know if it fixes these issues or if the issues have already subsided in the current release.
