      upgrade went bad

I'm so frustrated, been just simply trying to upgrade wiki from previous version.

followed the upgrade instructions but they were not correct step by step. Had to look in other places to find the right way to do it.. then it finally finished.. but then i ended up with 2 plugs in the plugin manage for version 3 previous version.. and version 4.. new version.. no idea why so i removed the version 3..

then got a infinite loop error.

tried changing htaccess as it stated in instructions but of course that didnt work then it messed up the urls of the site..

Then i uncommented the dbseo.php that it said to comment and it worked agian..

but now my wiki does not work.. and i'm just frustrated, unsure why it has to be so complicated.

If you are "upgrading" from VaultWiki 3, it's not really just an upgrade. You are basically replacing one add-on with another that happens to have the same name.

You must install VaultWiki 4 side-by-side with your existing VaultWiki 3 add-on and import your VaultWiki 3 data into VaultWiki 4. According to the Readme in the ZIP and this manual page, you should follow the instructions in this blog in order to import from VaultWiki 3: https://www.vaultwiki.org/blogs/56/

If you already removed version 3 without following these steps, then you need to restore your database from a backup because you deleted your entire wiki.

You will probably need ticket assistance after the import. It is sometimes hard to tell if you are reading the new wiki or the old wiki, so have one of our staff look at your site before you go ahead and just delete the old version.

If you need a professional install and/or import service, these are available for sale in the Members area, under Services.

You entered some bad characters into the vault/config.php file. It's possible that you put a space before the < on the first line, or you accidentally missed a ' when you edited one of the configs. It's also possible that the bad characters are invisible if you edited the file with Windows Notepad or something like that.

If you cannot figure out where your config is damaged, you should disable plugins on your vB site via your vB config file. I can provide Ticket Support if you submit one on our Members tab, under Services: https://www.vaultwiki.org/members/?d...e&productid=20

But it is the middle of the night here. I'm only on right now because I forgot to silence my cell phone before bed (support alerts go to my phone).

As for your infinite loop. In vault/config.php, you want to find all:
      Code:
      vbseo
      Replace all with:
      Code:
      dbseo
Then in your .htaccess, you should be able to find all:
      Code:
      dbseo
      And replace with:
      Code:
      wiki_index
This would let you see the wiki index page and still allow all your other URLs to work, but from what I understand your wiki will be empty currently.

If these changes do not work, just reverse the changes that you made, and I would recommend paying for service. I will be available again in the morning, a few hours from now. Good luck.
