      Regression: Mobile Style

vBulletin 4 has a mobile style and VaultWiki 3 made very extensive use of it. However, VaultWiki 4 doesn't work under it at all. At the very least under Android Browser, users are presented with a completely blank page when trying to access the wiki.

This is particularly problematic for VaultWiki.org, because 15% of our traffic comes from Android Browser, and almost all of it bounces, likely a direct result of this issue.

Note that VaultWiki will automatically update the version of jQuery Mobile used by vBulletin to version 1.2.1. That is not the newest release by far, but it is the newest release that supports the version of jQuery bundled with vBulletin (1.6.4). I do not think we should upgrade the jQuery version too, since that might break some other vB scripts.

jQuery Mobile 1.2 allows us to use the Popups feature that was added in that version and that is very useful for tabs and of course, popup menus.

Updated the Admin Panel in this respect. While it doesn't use jQuery Mobile, we were able to improve the display on mobile devices by changing the sidebar to a top nav bar. We've fixed the navbar to the top now, so on long admin pages, like some permissions pages, you still have quick access to the nav. Some aspects of the Admin Panel's control elements now use flex-box and media queries to improve appearance in narrower windows/displays.

Marking this as fixed in the next release. The wiki is now visible and basically interactive via the Mobile Style.

There are still some functions that don't work in the Mobile Style:
      • if the same function doesn't work in default vBulletin in the Mobile Style.
      • if the function makes excessive use of Javascript, like adding a page to an existing book, assigning categories, or picking integrations. jQuery Mobile seems to break most Javascript that relies on a given DOM structure, because it rewrites the DOM to some extremes. These kinds of functions can be revisited once Javascript-less fallbacks are implemented in the Default Style too.
      • inline moderation. While tab-based moderation works for wiki pages, and history controls work, traditional inline moderation in the list views is not currently available because jQuery tends to move the moderation controls outside of the form. It seems vBulletin has worked out some kind of workaround for this, so it can be re-examined in the future if there is dire need of inline moderation from the Mobile Style.
