      Multi-Language Support

A great feature for a number of sites is vBulletin's language and phrasing system, because it allows them to translate their forum so that users from different countries can enjoy the site's content.

While it is currently possible to translate all VaultWiki phrases to a forum's single language of choice, adding Multi-Language support would allow the titles and text to be available in other languages as well.

This is not a change that can be made quickly. It would involve reorganizing the way namespaces, articles, and revisions are each cached, how they are saved, and how they are retrieved. As a result, this feature must be pushed to the next major subversion.

The framework for this feature is in place for 2.5.x. Time (how soon vBulletin 4 is released) will tell whether we'll see this before VaultWiki 3.x

Saw this in the milestone, and wondered how far you'd got to implementing it?

What can currently be done is:

Selecting a language from the forum's language chooser should only show articles that were created from that language. If this doesn't work in the beta, please let me know.

Namespace URL parts cannot be translated yet. There is no way to link articles from different languages without using the URL BB-Code.

This should be done before we go to RC, but we're mainly working on tab integration and UI right now.

Cool, I'll have a play with it later for you and let you know.

Is it possible to have an identically named article in more than one language atm?

Yes, you can have two articles with the same name as long as they were written under different language selections.

This is currently the feature receiving the most development focus for the next build. We hope to have language options available in Beta 5 for Premium users.

Added for Beta 5! The implementation is still relatively basic, but we'll see how it goes for now in terms of debugging the beta before adding actually-requested enhancements.
