      Database error messages on edit
Quick edit or full edit generates 'database error' message (though the edit is applied OK)

      Hi,

I have Vbulletin 4.2.2, VaultWiki 3.0.20. My site's php and MySql were just upgraded to the latest versions. Since then, I've noticed database error messages when editing VaultWiki articles. Starting to edit is OK; the error message occurs on save. Either a 'Vbulletin message: database error' popover, or a full error page -
      Code:
      Database error in vBulletin 4.2.2:

      Invalid SQL:
      INSERT INTO searchcore_text (searchcoreid, keywordtext)
VALUES ( 75327, '...full content of article is here...' )
      			ON DUPLICATE KEY UPDATE  searchcoreid = VALUES(searchcoreid), keywordtext = VALUES(keywordtext);

MySQL Error : Duplicate entry 'H' for key 'text'
      Error Number : 1062

      Classname : vB_Database
      MySQL Version : 5.5.35-cll
However, the edit is still saved OK.

If you advise me to upgrade, can you link to some idiot-proof instructions for that?

In VaultWiki 3 the wiki article is just a forum post. If there is a database error saving the search index for the post, this is a vBulletin issue. Unfortunately I don't know if there will be another update to vBulletin itself, but you can try asking their support why you would get a Duplicate Key Error when the query obviously contains the phrase 'ON DUPLICATE KEY UPDATE'. To me it sounds like the searchcore_text table is not actually keyed in the way the query expects.

Hm - when I sent this to you this morning there were no errors with the forum, but apparently now there are, so I expect you're right. I've just been sending them a support ticket.

      Should I be updating, though?

Yes, we recommend updating to VaultWiki 4 especially since you are using vBulletin 4.2.2. I recommend paying for an Import service to get your data copied over. There will be less headaches for yourself to deal with if we run into problems like this search index error.

However, you should probably find out the issue with your search index before updating, since that can only get worse with time.

Oh, I'm all in favour of paying you to have my headaches for me . Web host says that databases just need repairing and defragmenting from time to time - and it's true that there are no more error messages now they've done that. Do you think the problem will recur, though?
