Where would you like to see this search function? What are you trying to search?

At the right top similar to xenforo admincp. I like how the xenforo acp search gives a preview of results.
I was trying to find specific settings you referred to and also specific permission setting.

I'm going to decline this for now. I don't see how this would be any more useful than Ctrl+F at the current moment. While there are a large number of settings, they typically are less than 10 per group, and there are a small number of groups. A search function would really only be useful on a page that shows multiple setting groups, which does not exist currently. Perhaps once there are more admin pages with many items that can't all be displayed at once, then I could see this being useful (e.g. how our page choosers filter long lists of results).

There seems to be a misunderstanding. Its indeed senseless to implement a page search. But thats not what I am requesting. I am requesting a search of the whole admin panel. If I want to find a specific setting, but do not know in which group / admin page it is, then I should be able to use an admin panel search to search all admin panel settings in all groups and pages.

In that case, perhaps it is better to complete the admin help for VaultWiki 4, and to make the titles and contents of those entries searchable. As far as I know, this is the only place where names and descriptions of all settings would actually be stored together. I think we eventually wanted these entries to exist as wiki pages, so that would make indexing and searching them pretty straightforward by utilizing the forum's existing search API.

I really like how the admin panel search of both XF and IPB work. You just type your query and it then gives the results in the live search. Results are shown for settings, phrases, etc, so that the admin can easily define if the search results are useful. Clicking them will direct the admin straight to the setting, phrase, whatever.

i am sorry to say that i still cant find much in the admincp. In the last hours I had to find the bbcode settings 3 times and each time I just kept opening all possible options for 5-10 minutes until I found it. It would be really helpful to be able to search for 'bb code' and just find the settings.

With the Admin Panel now merged with XenForo's CP, it would be the right time to add admin-search integration.

Implemented in the next release. Please keep in mind that the search results are no more specific than XenForo's admin search results, so I really don't think it's as useful as you were hoping. A fully-completed admin help feature with built-in search would be more useful, but is beyond the scope of this request.

Integration with XenForo's admin search system will return links to the edit view for admin-created titles that match, but will not result settings from inside edit views. This is consistent with XenForo's system. Anything more specific is not done because it will either be:
      - a cluttered results set (show edit links for all items because a setting on the edit view matches)
      - not link to the right place (show a link to the manager for a setting match from the edit view of any item within that manager but that doesn't appear in the manager view).
