      Proxy Requests to Google Analytics

Currently requests to ssl.google-analytics.com are made in the foreground by placing a google image on the web site to generate a tracking cookie. While this is mentioned in the site privacy policy, it piggybacks the user's secure connection to our site with a connection to a different site. This is problematic.

Instead of using google's image-based tracker directly, we can create our own connection to google-analytics on the server side, to avoid the possibility of other people listening in on an extra connection made with the user, when one of the sites involved isn't covered by our SSL certificate.

I have already created a local copy of the ga.js file to avoid possible listening on that third-party request.

While this is honorable, unfortunately I don't think there is a way to accomplish this without breaking Google Analytics due to the tracking being for our site, or without resorting to spoofing and violating the Google ToS.

So sadly, I think this must be overlooked.

Instead, image proxying for external images should be more of a concern, since those sites, which are not mentioned in our Privacy Policy, would be able to track our users.
