How wiki article is created - improvements

Ok, now there are only some phrases missing (a bit of bug report), one was something like: Thanks for creating wiki article, or something like this as it disappeared very fast. Second is Could not find phrase 'vw_page_main_desc'.

On creating Wiki article, it is a bit strange in my opinion. Only when I go advanced I see something I think should be default in creating Wiki article. Only after that I'm editing Wiki article. Even with selecting Jump to this page after creation you're not editing new wiki article.

I think that people expect that next step is starting entering text of wiki article, not going to wiki article (if they didn't select Jump to this page after creation at the time of wiki article creation) and then selecting EDIT tab. It looks pretty confusing to me, I think it will confuse our users also.

So I suggest that Go Advanced be only button (Cancel should stay, as people could change their mind), and there's no need for Jump to this page after creation. If you want something similar, make it into something like: Just create wiki article, without entering text in it.

In that case people who would like to just create wiki article and not editing on it right away, could do that. But most people in my opinion would like to start entering text in it.

If unsure, you could consult with other users, make a poll of it, or something, but I think that people expect to start entering text in wiki article when they created in right away. Like when you create normal thread, you just start entering whatever you want in thread, thread isn't just created empty and waiting for content to be entered at later time.

Maybe this is because there are types of wiki articles that just aren't wiki articles, but categories or something like this, but I still think that it's more logical to go enter text in it right away. If new wiki article (of some type) needs to be empty, in that case you could check if that type of wiki article is selected at creation screen and if it is, just create it.

We are probably going to take the Quick Create form out of the Area/Book/Category/Group list views. It is mainly intended for on the Book tab, so you can create the Book you want to make the chapter for, without having to enter text for the Book's index. Also it's intended for editor integration, when you want to use a wiki image that wasn't uploaded yet.

For these cases, "Jump to this page after creation" and "Go Advanced" are bad things to have anyway, since it would take you away from what you were doing first. The main thing is that the popup form is working correctly, so we added it to a place Alpha users have access to already.

We will enable attachments shortly this weekend, so we'd be moving the form at that time.

I'm closing this, since as far as I know the Quick Create is not used for this anymore.
