      You edited the Island namespace. You can rename it back to Island; it's used for a special purpose in VaultWiki and should normally not be changed. To create a separate new namespace, use the links at the bottom of the Namespace Manager.

      No go sir,

      As you can see by the picture the Default installation came with an 'island' namespace. The three I added are denoted by the arrows.

      I am unable to rename the problem one .. also I NEVER selected it to be an island in the first place.

      1. Go to Settings > Options > VaultWiki: Version Settings and Untouchables. If you can't see this group in the list, you might have to turn on debug mode to get it (depends on your vB version, I think).
      2. Find the setting "Namespace ID of the Island namespace?" If your screen shot is correct, you should set it to 3.
      3. If you turned on debug mode before, turn it off now.

      Wait, what now?
      Are you saying this version does not work in vb 4.1 or that I have to run debug to make it work?

      That ---> Version Settings and Untouchables. is not in my settings.

      Are you kidding me ..... debug a working forum to simply DELETE a name space?

      There was a problem in the upgrade path between VaultWiki Lite and VaultWiki Premium that gave this setting an incorrect value. Since Lite is migrated before settings are added and the flag was no longer available at that point, the settings installer believed that you were upgrading from a version < VaultWiki 3.

      I have fixed this problem in the installer for future upgraders.

      Alternatively you can try to enable debug mode only in the settings script. I have never tried this before, but in theory it should work. In admincp/options.php, find:
      Code:
      require_once('./global.php');
      Add after:
      Code:
      $vbulletin->debug = true;

      So when you say it's not fixed, changing the setting value didn't work? Because that's what would be giving the wrong namespace Island behavior.

      No. Hell no.

      I am not going to run any "try this" debug script on MY FORUM just for this MOD.

      Not only do I have this issue with phantom zombie name spaces but now the procedure to make a BOOK name space does not even closely resemble the one you guys have in your documentation. Not even close.

      Unfortunately if you are unwilling to apply fixes to your site, there's nothing more we can do on our end for that. vBulletin made it so you have to enable debug mode to view normally hidden settings. I made a suggestion that should do this without affecting your whole site. This has been fixed on our end.

      You are right, someone seems to have deleted the IMPORTANT part from our documentation for setting up the Book namespace. It's pretty simple, once you've created it, find the row called "Book namespace" in the "Namespace Functions" box. Select the namespace you want to save your books in.

      I'll just uninstall. Consider this matter closed.

      There is another way to "remove" the phantom namespace, without enabling debug mode - debug mode was the way to do it cleanly.

      1. Delete your "Island" namespace (id: 3).
      2. Edit the phantom namespace (id: 0 / 9). Change its Title to "Island", and save.
      3. Re-saving the phantom namespace should remove any excess data that made it not an Island.

      By bold-facing the word in my quote above, you are really reading too much into individual words that people say. If I meant "might", I would not have said "should". With the intention of hopefully clearing up any prior miscommunication, here's how I tend to use these subjunctives:
      • "Might" implies that it's entirely up-in-the-air whether something will happen or not.
      • "Should" implies that something is supposed to happen, but that it's impossible to foresee all combinations of circumstances and possibilities of human error.
      • "Will" or "Would" are impossible to use reliably in any situation that involves differences in environment, or involves statistically unreliable human action to carry out.

      These usages and non-usages stem from a personal belief that it's impossible to know anything 100% for sure due to the inherent flaws in empiricism.
