'Invalid article' message when filling in existing article title.

When i start a new wiki article, and fill in an existing title, then it will redirect me to the advanced editor for that article. however, for some existing wiki articles, I am not getting forwarded, but I am getting the standard:
Invalid Article specified. If you followed a valid link, please notify the administrator

Are the articles okay when you visit them normally? What are some example titles that get the error message? Are these articles Islands, or are you trying to create the "duplicate" as an Island?

This only happens with articles in a specific subforum. The subforum is a child of the default namespace. We tried article names like 'testing' 'test'. Probably not splendid examples. :/

This would happen if the target article has been soft-deleted. Trying to edit the article will throw the error message. You can also get the message if the article is moderated and you don't have permissions to moderate threads. Otherwise, I can't think of any other way you would see this message.

That explains it. Those are deleted articles.

The way this instance is handled does create a lot of confusion. Why not tell the user that the article already exists, but is not visible?

If I attempt to create a new page called "Member Groups" in that forum I correctly get the error that the page cannot be edited while a previous edit is awaiting moderation. I don't get the invalid article message.

I possibly updated my post above while you replied.

The 'member groups' wiki is not deleted, but the testing wiki was a deleted article. (i have just hard deleted it to resolve the issue on my site)
When a member tries to create a wiki article that exists but is soft deleted, they get the Invalid article message. Instead it would be better to explain whats happening.

Added a more descriptive error message for the next build.
