      vB Forum problems after upgrade
      vB Forum problems after upgrade

      Hello,

I upgraded the wiki software from 2.5.7 to 3.0.1. After doing this a couple problems popped up within the vB 3.8.4 PL2 forums. The drop down menus stopped work for example when creating tags for a post. The moderators were also unable to edit members posts. When the wiki product is disable there are not any problems. What should I do to fix this so that there are not problems within the regular forums while the wiki is enabled? Thanks!

      -Raymond

When creating tags, which drop-down menus stopped working? There are multiple ways to change tags. What is the URL in the address bar at this time?

What do you mean by "unable to edit members posts"? Please describe the steps your moderator attempted to edit a post, and on which step it failed.

The tags problem is adding tags to a post. Normally when you start typing a tag a list of tags starting with those letters pops up. That stops working. I'll get more information about the editing of posts problem.

Two different mods reported the post editing problem. Their description is " When I was having the post editing problem earlier, I was not getting any error message at all. Just the hour glass spinning away...waiting....waiting...waiting, then nothing. Just a screen with the post I was trying to edit. I had to hit refresh to clear the hour glass timer. " Is there any other information that would be helpful?

Okay thanks for explaining the tags problem a bit more. I think I understand what's happening.

As for the post editing, yes it would help if we knew what happened when the edit button is double-clicked (this should open up the edit view and display any error message).

I was not able to duplicate either problem but it may be order of operations combined with this. In template vault_general_footer, find:
      Code:
      ($show['vault_sections'] OR $show['popups']) AND !VAULT_36X_COMPAT
      Replace with:
      Code:
      ($show['special_css'] OR $show['vault_sections']) AND !VAULT_36X_COMPAT
      Does this change help?

      Hello,

No, they have the same problem and can not edit posts when the wiki product is enabled.

" When I try to edit a post, I often receive the spinning circle of death (boring translation: the system hangs while the "waiting" symbol spins). Using Firefox. "

When you upgraded VaultWiki from 2.5.7 to 3.0.1, did you revert all of the updated templates? If you had any custom VaultWiki templates they needed to be reverted.

Again I am not having this problem with the default style on my 3.8.4 test board. When it occurs, what does Firefox's Error Console have to say about it?

What happens if you double-click the Edit button to skip the AJAX and go to the full editor?

I turned off the quick edit to get around the edit problem for now. Double clicking worked for getting past the hung quick edit when enabled.

I see some style errors when clicking around other site pages.

If I clear the error console and click the edit button while quick edit is enabled it hangs and no errors are generated in the console.

The little spinny thing by the edit button just keeps spinning forever. Want me to make a screen shot youtube video?

It sounds like something is broken in the AJAX response. If you can make a test account that has permission to quick edit, I can tell you in about 5 seconds what's wrong.

If you have Firebug installed, open the Net panel, and use the "XHR" filter. Then try to perform the AJAX quick edit. Click the little + next to the URL that appears. Open the "Response" tab, and post the contents here in a CODE block.

We discovered that all AJAX was broken in 3.0.1 under vBulletin 3. If you upgraded to 3.0.2 already, the problem should be solved. Even so, I can't test while AJAX quick edits are disabled on your site.
