      Broken Island Space Smashes Wiki

This is from my tech guy:

was running vB3.8 - all is good
      - upgraded wiki to the new beta version on vB3.8 - all is good after a couple of file edits

disabled wiki, up graded vB to 4.0.2
-> editor is a mess in vB - is something with the wiki, as it goes away and is fine with no troubles when the wiki is enabled -- even though wiki did not work.

upgraded wiki to the newer beta - no apparent problems
-> enabled wiki looked and was there, but no content in any articles ??.

      - GREAT - now the editor looks correct again

-> in the admin cp for wiki found it said that clearing the catch normally fixes stuff - so cleaned it --
after this when clicking the wiki link is "Page not found" .. . and the files are there.

restored the database to how they were before cleaning the catch - re did the upgrade, this time it just dont' find the page at all - page not found when clicking the link.

restored the database again - as no ideas -
new wiki files are on the server, the install directory is renamed to "_install"

      ***

      Can you shed some light?

      Thanks

Did you try AdminCP > VaultWiki > Namespace Manager > Rebuild All Namespaces?
If that failed did you try AdminCP > VaultWiki > Wiki URL Manager > Rebuild Page URLs?

      Here's what the tech said:

wiki thingy .. . upgraded, and active even though all is not right
-> editors are back to normal

upgraded it with the same results -- did what was recommended -- same problem, page not found

      was a wTf moment .. .
-> thought and played with the language, changed back to the vB default -> finds the pages
-> but still didnt' display correctly

restored the backed up database again.. .

      - downloaded the new language file that you made and are currently using - uploaded it to the default language -> worked i think, i dont' see anything different (but thats me)
changed so it uses the default vB language.
removed the 2nd language in vB.

-> did the upgrade for wiki again -

nice - found it but.. . still not right .. .
-> emptied the catch - little better. still errors -- undefined call and could go no place
-> did the recommendations -- a lot better but still get undefined calls and stops.

parts of it work, parts don't. think its something on his end as has to do with plug ins and ?? .

have a backup before and after wiki if needed .. .

back to the site -- more to do --

      ****

      Can you take a look?

      THANKS

If you are getting undefined errors I need the full error in order to fix. Thanks.

EDIT: Found one on your site. In vault/special_plugins.php, find:
      Code:
      $vault->strlen
      Replace with:
      Code:
      strlen

      made changes --

no ideas how this works but

is putting links like this out

      http:///forum/showthread.php?p=22112#post22112

      http:///forum/showwiki.php?title=:7224

      -> change this to http:///forum/showwiki.php?title=7224

and goes to the wikin but "There is currently no text in this page."

the ERROR with wiki enabled, which will not let it work, as will with the wiki turned off is :
      Code:
Fatal error: Using $this when not in object context in /home/tvvn/public_html/forum/archive/global.php(40) : eval()'d code on line 1
Did reindex the whole thing, when click on Book (sách) and Bio (tác giả và tác phẩm), system seems to be busy, did not respond at all

Go to your Namespace Manager and check your Island namespace. Ensure there is a value for the Title. After verifying, click the save button (even if you made no changes).

EDIT: After checking, it looks like the Island space is malformed. Please PM me FTP details and I will try to solve your problems directly.

This issue note was made as an issue.
Did not quite get your instruction

You mean Display Title (Override the namespace's title as it appears everywhere, except in URLs)? Right now it's empty, so I should put something there?

I was able to log in to your forum and fix the Island space, which brought back most of your pages. I am not sure why your server rewrote the ID in the first place. Will require more research on my part.

To fix your wiki home page (when you click the Wiki tab), I will need FTP access.

I believe this was originally caused if you perform a database restore, or do a fresh install after 2.5.0. Naturally, both of these are relatively common.

A database restore will perform a straight INSERT of all data, where the Island namespace as it is currently implemented requires an INSERT -> UPDATE in order to set the ID properly.

Fresh installs beginning with 2.5.0 actually don't have an Island namespace, so they would have this problem as well - the fact that this went unnoticed for so long could explain a lot of setup problems people were having, despite the documentation being relatively straightforward - and probably resulted in 2.5 not having as excellent a reputation as we were hoping with the release.

The Island namespace needs to be rewritten to use an incremental ID like the others so database restores don't botch the wiki.

Now we have another problem. We just identified and solved a rather serious bug that went unnoticed by developers for 8 months. But it's being solved in a beta release because we're currently in a beta period. While we were planning to have RC1 next, a quick release like this without any real bug fixes or new features would not be right to move out of beta.

However, because of this bug, a new Beta would be more stable than the previous "stable" releases. Some customers may not install a beta and go with the last "stable" release - waiting for another Gold release. Perhaps the best thing to do is just mark 2.5.x as unstable and release this as an RC...

GLAD that you found the problem now rather than later

I assume all our data is still safe, and that you will be able to get us up and running fairly soon?

You should now be up-and-running. I still have to deal with that redirecty showthread URL, but otherwise you are okay. I will try to have a patch ready by the end of the day for everyone else.

Your wiki tab is now fixed according to: http://www.vaultwiki.org/issues/1198/

Also, this report is now public. In the future, when posting responses to an issue that is already private, you do not need to make each response private.
