      Automatically parse links in text

I would have an option to set the option "Automatically parse links in text" as selected for all wiki pages (or categories, or areas, ...)

Because: Users DON'T set this option manually and then the links are not clickable...

Yes, I reported this before. Its not friendly to our members. No one ticks the box (or even sees it) 70% of our users are on mobile with small screens.

This option is automatically checked when creating a new page. The setting is stored in the version history, and the checked state is preserved when editing the page. It is not necessary to re-check the box with each edit.

If this shows as unchecked on a page in XenForo, then either:
      - the page was created before 4.0.0 RC 3, OR
      - the page was imported from another wiki that used the undesired state, OR
      - the person who created the page actively changed the box to the undesired state when creating the page, OR
      - someone who edited the page actively changed the box to the undesired state when editing the page.

However, when posting a new wiki comment, I see that this box is not automatically checked. This is inconsistent with the expected behavior, and should be treated as a bug.

Could you add a setting to remove this option globally so that links are always parsed?
Or if there is no need to keep the option then just remove it?

I can make the behavior in XenForo like this:
      - for new comments and existing comments that have it selected, don't show the option to uncheck it.
      - for new pages and new edits where the previous edit has it selected, don't show the option to uncheck it.

In this way, all new content would continue to have links always parsed. Existing content would continue to have links always parsed if they were parsed before. For existing content where the links were not parsed before, the option will appear when editing that content so that you can make links always be parsed for that content (and thereafter the option will disappear).

As I noted above, this change should be sufficient in most cases, since most links should already be parsed anyway.

For consistency, the behavior will not be changed in vBulletin.

This is marked as fixed in the next release. This setting now follows the rules outlined in my previous post, which gracefully phases out the setting on XenForo forums.

Reversed part of this change for the next release (4.0.21), because it has had unintentional consequences, when certain links have been automatically linked and there has been no toggle to prevent it; most notably this occurred in templates, which prevented some templates from parsing correctly or at all, but the issue is possible in other situations as well, which is why the box existed in the first place.

The default state of the checkbox will still be checked for new wiki pages, with the checked state preserved on the next edit. However, the checkbox now appears, where in previous versions it had been hidden. The checkbox is still hidden for wiki comments, because most of the consequences are not relevant there; the linking behavior can be suppressed with PLAIN tags without causing additional problems.
