The fact is that you could edit books, Options - Manage Chapters, but "id book" tag from old chapters is not removed when you remove it from a book. The new orphan page instead of being independent as a page it need a book to be set. The example I gave you was a chapter of http://www.projectetal.com/forums/in...al_Guides_book . Also this old book it's not showing all chapters like was in the past, but only 6-7 chapters. All chapters are listed only in http://www.projectetal.com/forums/in...ook&do=chapter. Old another deleted book was the same, so that was why I deleted it. After re-creation it's showing all chapters http://www.projectetal.com/forums/in...g_started_book

in http://www.projectetal.com/forums/in...=Special:Books additional book is showing 109 chapters (few days ago were 328), instead of 40. The other one, getting started it's showing 13 like old one, not 10.

Wiki dev should suggest how we can remove at all the books, and edit the independent pages without deleting and recreating them. That is what I've done with http://www.projectetal.com/forums/in...shoot_d2nt_fix after I removed it as a chapter, and not re-added it.

Okay, so this happens in the following case:
1. In a Book, go to Options > Manage Chapters.
2. Check the box next to a chapter, whose name also appears in Wiki Admin Panel > Maintenance > URL Conflicts.
3. Choose Delete Selected.

The update to the old chapter's metadata fails because the URL Conflict has blocked the update.

In the current version, you can avoid this by keeping your URL Conflicts admin page clean.
I will work on a solution to cleanup the damaged chapters in the next upgrade.

I wonder if your chapter count discrepancies are also related to URL Conflicts (like having 2 "Additional Guides book" without realizing it).

Chapters that were already damaged by this bug will be changed back into normal pages by the upgrade script. Marking this as Fixed in the next release.

Just so I can confirm I understand, upgrading to the next release will resolve these errors?

Thanks for taking a second look into this, I was just getting with the wiki guy for a better explanation.

Yes, upgrading will resolve some of these errors when the upgrade is released.

But it will not fix problems with the chapter count. You should check Wiki Admin Panel > Maintenance > URL Conflicts, and cleanup everything that appears there. You probably have 2 or 3 books with the same names. Rename the extras so you can move their chapters to the right one.

This cleanup will also help prevent "bookid" errors on those pages if they haven't happened yet on those pages.

If there are no URL Conflicts, then the cause of your problem might not be the same one I had. It was also possible to cause this problem if the chapter that was deleted was last edited by a user who is now deleted.

The counts on Special:Books match the counts in the area list for your books. The upgrade to 4.0.15 was supposed to recount everything.

So if these numbers are still wrong, you will have to file a real ticket (with logins) so we can see the things it's counting, or maybe if it's not saving the updated counts. There is no way to know just by looking at the links you gave.

We have 2 books and the first part of their name are closer to ones of the categories related
1. Getting_started_book and category getting_started
2. Additional_Guides_book and category additional_guides
There were no errors related to names when those were created.

2nd book Additional_Guides_book is showing 6 chapters when it is viewed, and all 40 when managing chapters Additional_Guides_book&do=chapter, but 116 chapters it's showing on page Special:Books

1st book was recreated and it's showing now 10 chapters both on view Getting_started_book or when managing chapters Getting_started_book&do=chapter, but 21 chapters on Special:Books.

Hi, you said this issue is not resolved yet, but the site you posted still uses the same version that it did when you reported this issue. A few posts ago, I said that the upgrade should resolve at least part of the problem. Try upgrading. If the issue persists, you need to follow my other instructions (file a real Support Ticket).

Your books were corrupted for some reason. All of your missing chapters were being considered as books too, according to the main book's hierarchical tree. Since they were not books, when looking for them as books, they could not be found. You could only see a small number of chapters that were not expected to be books.

After I cleaned this up, rebuilt your chapter navigation, and rebuilt your chapter counts, things look okay now.
