Regression: Behavior of "Unapprove" in Moderator Tools

If a user does nto have permission to use a function then the function should not be shown.
As I saw comments mdoeration tools I tried to put one in moderation status. This lead to a permissions error.

What option did you use that you "tried to put one in moderation status"? It is not clear which item in the Moderation Tools drop-down this corresponds to.

I tried to unapprove a comment. I assume that the same happens when I try to delete or approve a comment.

You cannot "unapprove" a comment unless it is actually waiting for approval. I suspect that was the problem here.

So for the sake of this report, the "unapprove" option should be more clearly labelled perhaps as "deny" or "disapprove" and the option should only appear if there is at least one comment that needs approval.

I see. In vbulletin and xenforo this is possible to do, so I expected the same behavior.
How do you send a comment to the moderation queue?

Comments are only sent to the moderation queue if the posting user's permissions says that their comments require approval. This is an automatic process.

If there is an existing comment that you believe needs a moderator's review, report it instead.

I will consider allowing moderators to "send" comments to the moderation queue if vBulletin and XenForo actually do something when this option is selected.

We use this function regularly, when there is something that needs to be removed from public view but staff members can still see it.
I know many admins use this function on forums.

Fixed in the next release (4.0.10).

In Moderator Tools, the "Unapprove" option has been updated to be more consistent with the behavior of the "Unapprove" option in the forums:

      - "Unapprove" only works when the selected content is not currently in the moderation queue. It removes the content from public view and places it in said queue. Like Approve, it requires the permission "Can moderate wiki content".
      - To provide the pre-4.0.10 behavior of "Unapprove", the "Deny" option has been added. Like "Approve", it only works when the selected content is in the moderation queue.
      - When viewing any wiki page, Options > Change Moderation State is now persistent even when the page is not in the moderation queue. This allows for the "unapprove" behavior while viewing the page.
