It would be great if the tabbed appearance of an article was optional, by default, and on an article-by-article basis. Having tab-less articles would make it easier to use VaultWiki in more of a variety of designs and situations.
This is Implemented in 4.1.0 Beta 3. It feels really nice to get rid of the tabs across the top, especially on flat/minimalist styles and product pages.
This is mainly controlled by a new area setting "Content Display Style":
Tabbed
Tab-less
In the tab-less style, page controls have mostly been collapsed into a single drop-down menu, except for some needed for content discovery, such as Comments and List, and the Watch link. All language flags are collapsed into a single drop-down menu. Controls not inside a menu are converted to iconic buttons to minimize their visual footprint. These elements appear next to the title wherever the protection/watch status icons usually appear. Those status icons have also been updated to fit in more consistently with the new display style.
Somewhat related, as it was handled to eliminate a rendundant icon in the tab-less style, the separate "You are currently watching" indicator has now been combined into the appearance of the Watch link itself on both styles.
