      Auto links causing line breaks

      Haven't quite got to the bottom of this yet, but on mobile view I'm getting a lot of line breaks suddenly appearing when people post after auto links

      I am unable to reproduce this issue on the page in question using the Rune Dark style, on either my mobile or any settings in Chrome's device toolbar.

      If you are still encountering this issue, perhaps I am using the wrong style, it is only on a specific device, it is cache-related, or you have already corrected the issue.

      It's still occuring for me and another user. Samsung phones in chrome. Have tried clearing cache and persists.

      However, on my pixel phone in chrome I get no issue.

      Will try and find out if there's anything in common.

      Alright it's happening for some users in desktop chrome too.

      However I've tested in the default xenforo theme and it doesn't occur.

      There is one minor difference between the link style for a regular link and the wiki auto-link.

      element.style {
      white-space: nowrap;
      }

      Is in vaultwiki links.

      element.style {
      }

      Is for regular links.

      I'll get someone who can reproduce on desktop to remove that through inspector and see what happens

      Tested and confirmed that removing autolinks from the forum has fixed odd line breaks in all posts for all users.

      Have confirmed also occurred in default xenforo style for some users.

      Can't pin down when this started happening.

      Apologies for the running commentary, just posting things I find as I go.

      Let me get them to test on your site.

      Definitely seems to happen with Chrome 87.0.4280.66

      Also depends on page width whether it manifests:

      Yeah, this appears to be related to Chrome 87 (I was on 86 earlier today when I could not reproduce). I cannot reproduce on Firefox.

      From what I can tell, it will occur to random elements, depending on the page width, possibly when another word a certain distance after that element must break to the next line due to wrapping. (That specific element may not be affected at other widths). It occurs when any parent element contains the CSS property "hyphens: none". Since XenForo 2.2.1, the core.less was updated to include ".m-hyphens(none);" which triggers this issue.

      It seems to potentially affect any element that counts as inline or inline-block. Here it happens on A, but I have also seen the behavior when using an I, a SPAN, etc. It occurs even if the affected element has no styles and no classes.

      So this appears to be a bug in Chrome 87 that was introduced in that update, and only occurs since XenForo 2.2.1. Until Chrome fixes its renderer (there are hyphens-related changes coming in Chrome 88 which may or may not help), you can workaround the issue by removing the new CSS from XenForo's core.less template. Remove:
      Code:
      .m-hyphens(none);

      Took a lot of surveying to find that and realise my Pixel is determined to stay on the 86. branch right now. Thanks for the help, that's done the job for now!

      Honestly it's been driving me spare all day so really appreciate it!
