Area directory lists: page last updated = "Never" ... why?

Pages (or attachments, categories, etc) in an Area's directory list view will sometimes display "Never" in the last updated column. Even though I've flagged 4.1.0 Beta 2 as the version affected, this is long-standing behaviour which exists in 4.0.x, too.

It seems to be that pages which have not been edited again (beyond the first edit) is what causes "Never" to be displayed. If this is the case, can the page creation timestamp be used instead? Opening an affected page does show its created date just fine beneath the page content. Someone shouldn't have to open pages one-by-one to check the last edited date (creation date if only edited once).

For forum threads, XenForo displays a timestamp in the latest column even if it has no replies. Example: "Can't Create a Thread?" in Pre-Sales Questions.

      ---

Possibly a different issue: Occasionally I've spotted the "Never" last updated text showing for pages with >1 edits, such as "Something" in the Info area (VW.org vBulletin site), or img025.jpg in the System area (VW.org XF site). There are a few instances of this on my public (XF1.5, VW 4.0.x) site too.

The last-update is captured at the time a change is made and is stored in a separate table. This is due to wiki content having multiple types of changes and infinite possible parents to notify, whereas in standard forums the only updates are replies and only direct-line threads and forums are parents. Prior to some 4.0.x versions, there were a number of bugs and inconsistencies in this capture mechanism. Content which was last modified prior to those bugs being fixed might still show incorrect last-update since there have been no new updates to capture since the bugs were fixed. That is the case with the content you cite on our site.

We may consider changing "Never" to the content's creation info (where applicable), since that would be consistent with the prior VaultWiki 3.x behavior.

I'd very much like to see this changed in 4.1.x. There needs to be timestamp information for each page in the directory lists, including new pages just as XenForo does for threads without replies. Otherwise, it is impossible to tell a page created last year apart from one created earlier today if neither have been edited more than once. This might especially be a problem for wikis that deal with time-sensitive content.

      Thanks .

Added the creation info for listings that have creation info.
