      Make bug reporting less tedious

I have filed over 1000 reports over the years. For each bug report I need to remove the private / sensitive information and hotlinks from the stacktrace. For this I first dump the stacktrace in Word. Then do search & replacements. Then manually search and remove. Then I copy it to notepad to remove hotlinks. Then I remove superfluous enters. Then I post it here.

I remember that on xenreviews the developer took one hour to whip up a function to automatically do all this. It would be nice if VW would have such function.

I think XenForo 2 may improve the anonymity of URLs in server error logs. My public site is still XF1 based for the time being (waiting on VaultWiki 4.1 ), but from local tests the URLs seem to be relative to the XF root folder in XF2, rather than the server's home directory as in XF1. E.g. src/AddonCompany/AddonName/files/ instead of /home/account/path/to/XenForo/src/AddonCompany/AddonName/files/.

Its a small improvement, but not a comprehensive solution.

We can probably create a new BB-Code here that automatically does some of the filtering out of specified paths (although I think that anyone quoting you would be able to see the original content). I should note that error messages thrown by VaultWiki's error handlers already anonymize paths (although it is not possible to extend XenForo's error handlers to do the same) and that XenForo 2's error handlers already anonymize paths relative to the XenForo installation.

I do not understand what you mean by "remove hotlinks". If post contents are included in an error, it is relevant and could be a factor in the error. If the contents are modified before reporting, it could mean the difference whether or not the issue can be replicated. If you mean that certain text is automatically converted to links or smilies when reporting, this is one of the reasons that we recommend posting error text inside CODE tags (which has the added benefit of hiding the error text from guests).

The user in the stacktrace is hotlinked. The url is also hotlinked.
It doesn't relate to post content.

There often also are IP addresses listed which are private information and fall under the GDPR legislation.
All private information (IP & username) and sensitive server information (paths, db name, urls) should be scrubbed from bug reports.

If you need to, then arguably that information should be scrubbed before even pasting it into our site. So a tool hosted on our site, or a filter on our site, would not be sufficient to achieve what you ask. It seems more like that this should be a feature of XenForo itself or an add-on of XenForo, which would provide a button to view a scrubbed copy of the error log entry. I would recommend that you suggest such a feature to the XenForo devs. It would be redundant for every third-party add-on to provide separate scrubbers when the logged errors for all add-ons already appear in one place.
