I cannot reproduce this on any of my XenForo sites running 4.0.17. All of these phrases exist in the language XML for that version, all appear as results in XenForo's phrase search, and all are working correctly. This may be related to your still-unresolved cache issue.

Since the results of XenForo's phrase search might use your cache, you must use a MySQL query to verify that the phrases were installed:
      Code:
      SELECT phrase_id, title, addon_id
      FROM xf_phrase
      WHERE title IN ('vw_wiki_update_nav',
      'vw_wiki_comment_nav',
      'permission_vw_misc_cancontrib',
      'permission_vw_misc_canprofile',
      'vw_help_page_description')
      LIMIT 5

I am getting the impression that the installer has issues on my server.
What I am doing is installing and reinstalling VW4 on my XF big board. Until a flawless install can be done.

The phrases are all in the system. I can see the phrases in xenforo admin panel. For some reason they do not display.
For example option_group_vw_server_settings and all the other option group and option phrases.
There seems to be a relation to this: https://www.vaultwiki.org/issues/4955/

If you see them as results in the admin panel, then they already exist in xf_phrase_map.

Please also check xf_phrase_compiled for those title values. XenForo creates xf_phrase_compiled entries at the same time as xf_phrase_map, but if xf_phrase_compiled is missing, then it would explain why the phrases are not appearing in the front-end, which reads from this table.

These phrases are not in the xf_phrase_compiled table. It seems you hit the nail on the head.
Its interesting that I did a reinstall and got the same results.

Since XenForo creates the entries in xf_phrase_map and xf_phrase_compiled in the same rebuild action (and would remove the entry from xf_phrase_map if there is no corresponding xf_phrase_compiled entry), I wonder how you managed this. It's as though subsequent queries in the rebuild are being ignored by the server, or that the rebuild processes are being killed before they complete. Check your various server logs to make sure PHP isn't being killed early. If you have configured the server to reuse connections for multiple requests (I think this is common), then it is possible you are hitting some kind of timeout. For example, maybe this PHP bug, which is fixed by 7.1.3: https://bugs.php.net/bug.php?id=69860

I will uninstall and try again after upgrade to php 7.1.3
With my amount of traffic (125k users per day) the server logs are very hard to use.

Was this issue resolved after updating to PHP 7.1.3? If not, you are going to need to figure out a way to review those logs, specifically for the time period where the installer is working.
