      Regression: reputation for comments

In VW3 it was possible to give reputation on comments. This allowed us to give our writers some reward for their writings and is highly appreciated by our members. VW4 does not have this which would be very upsetting for my members. Especially since so many have received reputation on their wiki comments.

More so, for most regressions we imported the data so that it could be saved for eventual re-implementation. In the case of reputation for comments, no such import was done from VW3, so this becomes a data loss issue.

Am I correct that this is scheduled to be implemented for an upcoming release?

      Okay, I've reviewed this again.

It seems that reputation CAN be spoofed in vBulletin. There's not really a central reputation center, so there's not a place where a comprehensive list could get messy. So for vBulletin we would add the wiki reputation to a new table and update the same user counters that update on regular reputation.

XenForo, on the other hand, doesn't have a reputation system similar to vBulletin. When importing vBulletin posts to XenForo, the reputation is imported if positive, and is imported as a like on the post. We can just do the same thing when importing VW3 to XenForo, and then the Likes support that's already in place would handle the rest nicely.

However, I have increased the time-to-complete to 6-hours estimated since a separate reputation system needs to be written for vBulletin installs.

Is this function scheduled for one of the upcoming releases? I ask because its essential before an VW3 to VW4 upgrade can be applied to my site.

As of RC 2, reputation data will be imported from VaultWiki 3. However, there is no interface to add, view, or manage the reputation under vBulletin. I'm still working on that.

But as I mentioned before, XenForo imports reputation as likes, so XenForo users won't have to wait for an interface anyway.

Handled the ability to add/view rep in comments under vBulletin. No AJAX functionality yet, but the forms work.

Currently working on the UserCP view where users land after clicking those "You received reputation" alerts.

Fixed in the next release. You can now add reputation for wiki comments under vBulletin just as before. Also, reputation is not lost across imports.

This is awesome news. Is it possible for the xenforo reputation addon to hook into it?

Please link the addon. I will have to review how it works to see if something similar can be done with spoofing the reputation points or if something separate needs to be built for XenForo.

From what I've seen of vBulletin's system, there is only the option of positive or negative for the end user to choose from, not to give a specific amount. The actual points awarded is calculated by vBulletin's own code based on the giving user's reputation power.

We did not modify this system in any way, simply made wiki comments able to utilize it.
