I figured that probably one of the reasons our sales were dropping was that I hadn't checked on our ads in a while. It turns out pretty much all of them had been defunct for about the length of time that it seemed our sales had been going down. So I spent all day having fun on Google AdWords trying to figure out how to get more clicks.

Well, that is until I had to go for my checkup, come home and have to write a second angry letter to the NYS Tax Department, and then decided to look at our site's top keywords for pagerank. I was pleased to find, a few below our result, a vbblog post claiming to have a nulled version of VaultWiki (and a pretty old version at that). I was even more pleased to find that it had already been flagged and removed, or the uploader realized that the script was quite out-of-date.

After some more searching around, I found a duplicate post of our Lite version thread at vb.org, posted at vbteam. The one comment was asking if there was any "team" working on putting out a nulled full version. Funny that he never found the other post, and kind of amusing that a "team" would even have to do this.

However, if you consider the number of people who are members of this site, this is the largest possible number of people with legitimate copies of the software. Basically, this means that it is very easy to get caught leaking it. Especially when we start to implement a stricter license agreement in 2.3.0.

Yet, both of these implied to me that there was some demand for VaultWiki (enough for people to pirate it). Or at least there was in October, when these posts were made.
